Celebrate Valentine's Day a Little DifferentlyWant to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day in a relaxed manner? Whether you’re single or coupled up, it can be a great excuse to get out there and do things. And who knows? You may actually meet someone. Furthermore, the ways we propose to you now lack cheesiness… At least most of them do, anyway!
Have a Party on Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day is a day that is traditionally set aside to celebrate love. This doesn't mean that you have to restrict it to you and your partner: you could also throw a party! Invite a couple of friends over. This can be excellent for single friends as well, especially if you invite a couple of them. Another reason that parties work: they take a lot of the usual pressure off, which is something many people (whether single or coupled up) tend to feel around this time of year. Don't let decorations stress you out either: just a few tacky Valentine's-themed ones will do!
Celebrate Your Friends!
Taken from the show Parks and Recreation, Galentine's Day is a day that is devoted to the celebration of female friendship. While romantic love is celebrated quite often, there are few occasions which are designed to help people focus on many of the other just-as-important relationships, such as friendship (which in some cases can be long-lasting!). Take this time to do something special: a picnic, an outing or just a little event with a few of you!
Crazy Idea: Volunteer on Valentine's Day!
While doing something for charity may seem to be a mad idea on Valentine's Day, it can be a special experience for two people to do together. It is also unusual and may actually help to break your routine. The same can also be said for single people. If anything, getting out there and helping out at places like the homeless shelter could cause you to run into someone special!
Try Out Something Extreme
Extreme actions don't have to be dangerous. Why not plan an adventurous trip for the day, or do something completely random? Why not try out something you've always wanted to do, but have never really had the courage/time for? This doesn't necessarily have to be something like skydiving or bungee-jumping, but they can certainly be a part of it!
These are just sugestions of course, but they can help improve your Valentine's Day significantly. While some people might like to just cuddle up with their significant other (or a good book!), many more might want to dip their toes in the pool of adventure. So go on, what are you waiting for?
